Installation and Replacement

INSTALLATION AND REPLACEMENT OF STRUCTURAL BEARINGS

Installation of structural bearings has to be done according to EN 1337-11. Structural bearings have to be stored suitable in site and they have to be checked if there are any defects before installation. There are different installation types which change depending on structure types.

Bearing plinths have to be smooth, clean and free from dust. Flatness of bearing plinth is very important because there may be additional rotation, eccentric loads etc. may be occurred if plinth is not flat.

If bearing has anchor plates, it is better to apply chipping on concrete surfaces in order to increase grouting surface. Used grout has to be high strength and self-leveling grout and it has to be poured from one side of bearing in order to fill completely.

Structural bearings have to be checked and inspected periodically. If some of the bearings are damaged and do not allow system to work properly in the course of time, they have to be replaced. In order to provide proper replacement, high capacity jacks have to be used for lifting according to FEFCON replacement project which is prepared for each project specially

INSTALLATION AND REPLACEMENT OF EXPANSION JOINTS

Expansion joints are installed to the structures depending on joint types by cast in-situ or chemical anchors in accordance with FEFCON installation procedure.

Expansion joint may be damaged and may not be worked properly because of the physical and environmental effects and time, so they have to be replaced. In order to provide proper replacement, FEFCON inspection, maintenance and replacement procedure has to be followed. Damaged expansion joints have to be removed from their places first. Then, maintenance of the surfaces has to be done, if needed. Lastly, new expansion joints have to be installed according to FEFCON installation procedure.
